Science made simple brings professional science shows to schools around the UK. Sci-High Forensic Science Events

The scheme provides forensic science events for schools or colleges, and is run by a former professional forensic scientist. The events include the principles of forensic science, quiz and discussion, a crime scene examination, an investigation of a burglary or simulated assault, and realistic mini-trials where pupils present evidence in a court-room setting. The emphasis is on quality learning, fun and inclusivity, and illustrates real-world professional science, the difference between findings and interpretations and the importance of communication in science. The content is relevant to physics, chemistry and biology learning in KS3 and KS4, to enquiry, evidence and evaluation, and to the use of language across the curriculum.

Shape the Future STEPS at Work

The Royal Academy of Engineering is working with the National Education Business Partnerships Network to offer professional development opportunities for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teachers, lecturers and careers specialists. Professional Development Placements (POPS) with business and industry are an effective way for teachers to enhance their teaching and learning, gain vital work-related experience and case studies for the classroom, and also update their business and careers knowledge. POPS provide teachers with the opportunity to identify how their subiects are used in the world outside of the classroom. These popular talks for young people are given in our iconic theatre (the very one where the Christmas Lectures are filmed) at our headquarters in Mayfair. The one-hour sessions provide an entertaining investigation to a range of STEM subjects and really bring science to life for your students.

The Society for Experimental Biology

The Greater Manchester STEM Centre operates as SETPOINT Greater Manchester; a registered Educational Charity dedicated to promoting activities that excite young people's interest and potential careers in science and technology.  We think it particulary important to engage with industry and seek to involve their employees in our work.  We believe young people need to meet practising scientists, engineers, technologists and mathematicians who are steeped in real examples of 'STEM' in action bringing reality to the classroom.

Tomorrows Engineers is more than a one stop shop for information and resources about the amazing careers available in engineering. UK Bioindustry Association

Union Learning Climbing Frame

The union learning Climbing Frame is an easy to use website for Union Learning Reps (ULRs) and other reps who work with learners provided by unionlearn. The Climbing Frame has as its core a holistic approach. This approach recognises that union learners have aspirations, skills and experiences, which relate to all aspects of their lives; their current jobs, possible career routes and their personal situation. The Climbing Frame has been designed to support the interaction and transferability of skills and experience.

WISE

At WISE, our mission is to increase the gender balance in the UK’s STEM workforce, pushing the presence of female employees from 13% as it stands now, to 30% by 2020. Our services are designed to build and sustain the pipeline of female talent in STEM from classroom to boardroom, boosting the talent pool to drive economic growth. WISE, which has nearly 30 years experience of inspiring girls to pursue STEM subjects, now incorporates the UKRC, which had a contract from the Government from 2004-12 to increase opportunities for women in science, engineering and technology through support services to business, education and women returners.

The main focus of the Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (WiSET) team, based within the Centre for Science Education (CSE), is to widen the participation of under-represented groups in science, technology, engineering, maths (STEM) and the built environment.
